Art: Neurographic Jellyfish

Students explored the wet on wet watercolor painting technique while completing this project. This technique gave the students the opportunity to explore how watercolor can bloom and bleed to create beautiful areas of color in their artwork.

Art Club: Trees

Trees were the focus for two of the art classes last week.

Jr. High learned about letting go of “control” by tracing a shape around rice which was poured on paper to create the shape of a tree. They also worked with water color and confetti to create a fall tree. If you look closely, you will see each student chose a poem about fall, leaves or trees to write in the white outline of their artwork as well.

Painting class created "Amazing Aspens". They spent time learning how to blend cool and warm colors for the background. Torn pieces of music paper were used for the tree trunks, and India Ink was used to create the bark.

Both projects were a fun way to ease into creating art for this new school year. It’s nice seeing art filling the hallways again. 🎨❤️

Art Club Portfolios

During the first few days of school, students create portfolios to store their artwork in during the school year. I personally have failed at getting photos taken of very many of them, but these girls in the 8th period Art I class showed off their work for me. All three drew their art by free hand. They had 💯 creative freedom to do what they wanted on their portfilio. It will be fun to see what all they create this year.

FBLA/Yearbook

The Couch Yearbook staff went on their final ad sales trip yesterday to Thayer and Mammoth Spring. It was a hot day but they powered through stepping out of their comfort zone and using their professional and communication skills in a real world setting.

We followed tradition from last year getting pizza from Casey's and playing at the park for lunch. One of the girls said, "I feel like we are little kids on a field trip again!" I love that we are able to take 30 minutes to allow them to play and recharge as a reward for their hard work, this will now be a yearly tradition!

Today they started to call back businesses that we left information with and those that were closed, so they are continuing to develop those professional skills they are going to need after graduation. I am so proud of them for all the work they are putting in and the pride they are taking in making sure they do a good job!

To purchase an ad you can email their Advisor, Lisa Crowder at lcrowder@couchk12.com, or call the office and leave your contact information for a staff member to call and take your order.
