FCCLA/FCS: Jr. High FCCLA Learn the FCCLA Creed

These JH FACS Students memorized and recited the FCCLA Creed. Way to go! They earned a strawberry smoothie.

"We are the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
We face the future with warm courage and high hope.
For we have the clear consciousness of seeking old and precious values.
For we are the builders of homes,
homes for America's future,
homes where living will be the expression of everything that is good and fair,
homes where truth and love and security and faith will be realities, not dreams.
We are the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
We face the future with warm courage and high hope."

Art Club: TGIF

We are ending our first week on a positive "note" …

TGIF:
What did you TRY this week?
What are you GRATEFUL for this week?
What INSPIRED you this week?
What was FUN this week?

Some of their answers are pretty great! We have wonderful students at Couch School! ❤️

Art: Sneak Peak

Here is a little sneak peek into some of the talent I am already seeing coming from the Art classroom this year. During the first week of school, we make portfolios to store our artwork during the school year. These two aren’t completed yet, but I’m already very impressed with their work so far. Are you as excited to see the finished portfolios as I am?

FFA: Check Out Our Plants

If you haven’t stopped by to see the growth from the plants we started last year you should. They are thriving. The landscape got cleaned up today and the plants have ID tags now. This is all thanks to a partnership between the Nursery class from last year and the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Welcome to the Tribe: Anthony Collins

Experience: I graduated from Alton High School in 2006. From there I went on to Missouri State University and received my Bachelors degree (Major in Mathematics with a Minor in English) in 2010. I decided during my junior year of college that I would pursue a career in teaching, so after finishing my coursework I went through the ABCTE program to obtain a teaching certificate. I went back to school and finished my Masters in Educational Administration in 2021. I have spent the past 14 years working in a high school math classroom. I have coached multiple sports over the course of my career, but I am looking forward to enjoying the games as a fan (and a parent) from this point on!

A little about myself: I have been married to my wife (Kayla) for 16 years. We have 5 children: Olivia (13), Adalynd (11), Cole (6), Noah (4), and Willow (1). We enjoy spending time together outside with the kids, gardening, cooking and attending church. I love watching sports (St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs).

I started my career as a teacher at Couch High School in 2010-2011 and am grateful that I have been blessed with the opportunity to come back!

Welcome to the Tribe: Michaela Morgan

Michaela Morgan

Experience: Initially, I started as a title teacher. This will be my third year teaching & my first year in Special Education. Before teaching, I was a case manager. I remember doing my monthly rotations thinking about how I could do more for the kids & so; I became a teacher. Working with students quickly became a passion. I love each & every student as my own, & learned my work goes much further than the classroom.

About Me: I am not a Myrtle/Couch native but I married one. Preston Morgan, a couch alumni, is my husband. My son, Rancher Dale, is 3 years old & we are both happy to be sending him to the same school, Preston graduated from. Together we enjoy building fence, pushing trees with the skid steer, & spending time on our funny farm. I am truly blessed & extremely excited for the opportunity to be apart of a community where generations of my family have attended & continue the tradition of being a Couch Indian!

Welcome to the Tribe: Scott Smith

We are excited to welcome our new staff members this year! Leading up to the begining of the school year we will be introducing them to you through facebook posts. We are looking forward to a great year!

Scott Smith, 5th Grade

Experience: I attended Mammoth Spring High School, graduating in 2007. This year, I obtained my Bachelors degree in elementary education. I have worked in the automotive field since high school, but I am excited to begin this new journey teaching 5th grade as a Couch Indian.

A little more about me: June marked my 16th anniversary with my wife. She and I have 5 kids together, though she would say she has 6 kids… We love football (Go Chiefs!), fishing/river time, Jeepin’, and making memories. Years ago I felt a pull to teaching for numerous reasons, and as time passed, the feeling only got stronger. I truly feel called to teach, and I am ecstatic to hit the ground running. It’s going to be a great year!
